Things That Make Singapore Such A Popular Tourist Destination

Singapore is a city-state located at the southern tip of the malay peninsula, about 85 miles north of the equator. It has a diamond-shaped main island and approximately sixty small islets scattered around it. The main island occupies all but about 18 square miles of the combined area. Aside from being one of the busiest ports in the world, Singapore has the largest port in southeast asia and is one of the most developed countries in the world. 

Things That Make Singapore Such A Popular Tourist Destination

Bangkok, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia are all neighboring countries of Singapore. Singapore is divided into five distinct regions: the north, north east, east, central, and west. Singapore was once a British colony and has now become a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Singapore first joined the federation of Malaysia in 1963, only to secede on august 9, 1965, to become an independent state. 

Singapore is known to be one of the most developed countries in the world, with many tourists from all over the world visiting it. This article’s main purpose is not to discuss Singapore but rather to discuss popular things and places that make Singapore a popular tourist destination. In order not to waste any time, let’s discuss some of Singapore’s famous features.

1• Singapore Botanic Gardens

Founded in 1859, the Singapore Botanic Gardens are the only Asian gardens designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The garden contains more than 10,000 species of plants, mainly tropical plants. There are many rainforest gardens and a Ginger Garden dedicated to the hundreds of varieties of ginger and related plants that attract many tourists from all over the world.  In addition to being a popular tourist destination, Singapore Botanic Gardens is a popular destination for researchers. 

2• Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo was built with a grant of $9 million from the Singapore government as the Singapore Zoological Gardens or the Mandai Zoo. There are about 315 species of animals in the zoo, 16 percent are considered to be threatened species. The Singapore Zoo is one of the major reasons that also makes Singapore such a popular destination; it attracts over 2 million visitors each year. 

3• Gardens by the Bay

There is a 101-hectare park called Gardens by the Bay in Singapore’s Central Region, located on the Marina Reservoir, encompassing three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay Central Garden. As a popular tourist attraction in Singapore, the park had 6.4 million visitors in 2014, and had more than 20 million in November 2015, and over 50 million in 2018. 

4• Marina Bay Sands Singapore

In Singapore, Marina Bay Sands is one of the most popular tourist destinations. It is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay and is owned by Las Vegas Sands Corporation. At $8 billion including land costs, it was considered the world’s most expensive standalone casino property in 2010. In addition to offering a beautiful swimming pool, a casino, a mall, a museum, a theater, two floating crystal pavilions, art science exhibits, and other facilities, Marina Bay Sands is also a popular destination for tourists. 

5• Singapore Flyer

In the Downtown Core district of Singapore, there is an observation wheel called Singapore Flyer, which has 28 air-conditioned capsules, each of which can accommodate 28 people and has a three-story terminal building. In total, the Flyer has a height of 165 metres and was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel until the 167.6m High Roller, which stands 2.6m taller than the Flyer.

Singapore is full of many other attractions that attract tourists from around the world. In addition, Singapore is one of the world’s safest countries, making it a favorite destination for tourists. The city is full of many other things as well, but it’s difficult to mention all of  them  in this short article, but all the places that are mentioned above are among the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore.
