Reasons Game of Thrones Was So Popular

The Game of Thrones changed how the world saw fantasy on the small screens. The show was one of the biggest hits of TV history, breaking all the viewership records, reaching 25 million per episode. And that doesn’t include illegal downloads worldwide.

Reasons Game of Thrones Was So Popular

After the success of the books by George R.R. Martin, the series started as a joint venture between two production powerhouses in HBO and David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Game of Thrones got good critical reviews and engaged the masses from the first episode.

And then the show became huge and was declared as one of the most expensive and profitable series on the market. The series kept on entertaining viewers for almost a decade. The series also won a lot of prestigious award shows such as the Emmys.

So here is the list of reasons why Game of Thrones became a worldwide phenomenon.

The Exceptional Cast

The producers and writer put a lot of effort into casting the actor for the roles. As a result, every actor portrayed the character so realistically that people found it hard to believe their authentic selves.

The television show attracted some of Hollywood’s elite talent, such as Emilia Clarke (the widow Stark), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister). This not only increased viewership but also propelled them.

Twisted Plot

The story basically revolves around the rulers and families, as they fight for control to win all contested power by prominent men who want what’s best for themselves or their family name rather than the good of the realm.
But the main strength of the show was the unexpected turns and twists. You never know what hell is going to break next moment!

Mixed Emotions

The very idea of the show was to feel what the characters were feeling in their situations. Although the great writing made sure to do that, the direction and great acting also did the trick.

Also, the show had you twisted between hate and love. It developed characters in such a way that you fall into the dilemma of loving them or hating them. You are forced to reflect on the fictional world and have to enjoy the show with both enjoyment and sadness together.

Special Effects

It took a lot of time and budget to create a TV series like “Game of Thrones.” Special Effects, like VFX and CG makeup, were one piece that helped to create what you saw on screen.
The flawless makeup also made the show look incredible and real. You could feel the chillies down your spine watching white walkers beyond the wall and feeling the sweat on your brows watching people in the heat of the East.

Amazing costumes

One of the things that made GOT so popular was its handmade costumes. The costumes were a real work of art. Every character’s dress had family crests embroidered on them. The characters’ grace with those dresses made them look even more incredible.

Soundtracks

Many famous musicians and composers were fans of the show, so it had many of its own soundtracks. Of course, this allowed viewers to immerse in the atmosphere with the sound of the music written, especially for the show.

Think of anything better for “the red wedding”? Nothing would have matched with the great sadness and brutality of the moment other than the original soundtrack.

Conclusion

The above list only takes into account only some points. There were many great moments of the show, and make a long list of reasons why the show was a great success worldwide. However, to truly love the show, you must binge watch it, except its eighth season!
